Enveloping Shadows pt 1-5

The boy shuddered as he awoke, he was sitting in a dark recess in an unlit back alley. It was the dead of night, and the surrounding town was darkened, all the residents asleep within their homes. The boy stood up, a feeling of nausea overwhelming him. He threw up on the ground, bile overflowing from his lips. He wiped his mouth and chin and began to haltingly walk out of the alley. He could not remember why he was there, but he knew he was injured in some way. He took a few more steps before he realized he was extremely thirsty. He stumbled out onto the sidewalk and looked around. All the buildings were dark, he didn't recognize this part of town, and he was thirsty, EXTREMELY thirsty. He began taking cautious steps down the sidewalk, wondering where he was, and what he should do. He halted at a red light, and saw a young woman on the other side of the road. He felt a mixture of things at the time. Inside his head he heard the voices telling him to rape or kill her. Shaking his head, more in fear of the voices than his actions he calmly walked across the road. The woman noticed him when he was a few feet away from her. The boy knew only one thing now. His thirst was a primal one, and only one liquid would quench it. He grabbed the woman's hand and pulled her close to him. She resisted and tried to pull away, but she was overpowered as the boy drove his sharp canines into her neck. The boy felt the warm red liquid flow from the womans neck and down his cracked and parched throat. He gulped greedily, as if drinking from an oasis in the desert. Soon the woman collapsed in the boy's arms, but the boy kept drinking oblivious to her. When he deemed himself finished he simply discarded her body and kept moving. He knew now what had happened, why he felt injured earlier. He was no longer alive, his soul was gone. He had become a creature of the night, a Vampire.

This was something i thought up the other day, and i toyed with the idea just this morning. This is a line of thought story so there will be awkward pauses and many commas to represent the incomplete flow of thought that goes on within the human mind. It is an incomplete work, but i will do more and more as time goes on. I hope you enjoy it

Interesting introduction. I was intrigued by the fact that he has voices in his head and all that good stuff. I'll be keeping an eye on this for updates.

PART 2....

He wandered the nightscape of the town. In the end he returned to the alley he woke in. It was nearly 6 A.M. in the morning. He knew if he was a vampire he could not be out in the sun, but he did not know what would happen if he did. He wrapped himself in a shredded sheet he found in the garbage can nearby. He closed his eyes, and again he heard the voices in his head, urging him to kill and rape countless people. He ignored them and went into a fitful sleep. He opened his eyes to see his own bedroom, light shining through the windowsill. He shouted loudly and jumped out of bed. The light did not burn or hurt him in any way, but it was the shock what he saw. Or in this case didn't see. He was in his pajamas, in his room, a normal person. "It was... just a dream?" He said questioningly, as if someone would answer him. He removed his school uniform from the hangars they rested on, threw his pajamas in a pile on the floor, changed and left for school. Everything was fine until he reached an intersection not far from his school. The area was cordoned off by police tape and a chalk outline was etched onto the sidewalk. He recognized this place, it was the place he assaulted that woman in his dream. His face went pale and his knees trembled. He turned the opposite direction and walked away. Away from his home, and away from school. He needed time to think, to try and recall what had happened in his dream. He looked up from his meditations
only to realize where he had traveled too.It was the back alley, and there was a girl his age sitting there wrapped in a tattered sheet. " Who are you?" the boy asked her. "I am you" the girl replied.

The boy took a step back, bewildered by the words that came out of the girls mouth. She stood up, and he noticed a ruddy brown smudge running down the edge of her mouth to the point of her chin. " Do not be afraid, I will not hurt myself."
The girl said chuckling, " That is great to know, but what are you going to do to me!" the boy shouted frantically, nearly incoherently. "Did you not hear what i just said, i will not hurt you, be cause we are of one mind and soul. The girl took a step forward and spoke again, "you can call me Keiira, as i will call you Hideki""Keiira-san?" Hideki said, slightly unnerved."No, just Keiira will work. There is no need to be formal when we are the same being" The girl said as she took a step closer."As, i smell blood on you, so you must have fed after all, I knew it must have been an amateur's work to leave a corpse behind" she snickered as she looked me up and down. " Yes I can see it in your eyes, the Primal aggression,lust, passion, all the emotions that drive you are warped. You wish only for the high of the kill, the sweetness of the prize, you are a murderer." Hideki stumbled back, his upper body fully brightened by the morning sun. He mumbled incoherently as he kept walking backwards, the girl known as Keiira inching ever steadily closer. Finally, with his back to the open road, and the girl just inches away from him, a rough tap on the back forced him to quickly spin around out of reflex, the voices in his head raging to kill this intrusion, pillage the body of its life then ravage its soul after death. When his eyes met with those of the girl that tapped him, his mind cleared and he mumbled "Kurozawa... Kazumi-san?""yes, she replied with a cheerful smile,
"and I happen to know you are Kunitada Hideki-san of Class 2B".Hideki's eyes averted over his shoulder, but the young girl who had called herself Keiira was gone without a trace."Come on Kunitada-san, if you don't hurry up you will be late for school" yelled out Kazumi as she seemingly skipped down the sidewalk. Hideki lowered his shoulders and let out a sigh, knowing that his troubles had just begun.

He followed Kazumi along the sidewalk, walking at a brisk pace. He was deep in thought about everything that just happened, about Keiira, the things she said, and himself most of all. He went through the day in a daze, always looking over his shoulder as if looking for someone who wasn’t there, afraid of something intangible. The final bell of the day rang, and Hideki left the school grounds, aimlessly wandering through the town, as if he were possessed. He soon found his legs directing him towards the same back alley, the same small, hollowed out crevice in the wall, where the young girl was sitting, sleeping calmly as if she were just a child. “Wait…” thought Hideki “if she is me then why does she look so much younger and act differently than me?” “It is because your primal instincts are not based on age, or even gender. They are based on your basest human necessities.” Said Keiira as she stretched her legs and stood up, the tattered sheet sliding off of her body to reveal a lithe young frame. She wore what seemed to be Hideki’s sleepwear, only it was much too large for her and slid down one shoulder. Hideki did not like seeing a child like this, even if she wasn’t really a child. “Come on, we are going to get you some better clothing.” “What?? There is no need, this is adequate for the means of covering my body, as I live only to kill it should not matter what I wear.” Keiira promptly replied, but regardless of what she said Hideki had made up his mind. He grabbed her small hand and said “first we must go to my house and get clothes that are street worthy, then we will go to the mall and buy you clothes that fit.” Keiira struggled against his firm grasp on her hand, she knew that he would do nothing to her, because they were of one soul, but she could not read his intentions or thoughts so she was uncertain of what to do. She silently walked alongside him, noting that as he was not a full Vampire yet his body was still warm from the blood flowing within. She was surprised at his warmth, for her body was always cold as ice. She was always in pain as if her body was constantly assailed with spears of ice puncturing her entirely. She did not know of this warmth except during the kill, and when drinking the lifeblood of her victim. It was a reassuring warmth that made her believe that she could go along with whatever her otherself believed was right.

They soon arrived at the Kunitada household. It was well after 5 o'clock in the afternoon, but Hideki had no worries. His father was long gone, having abandoned him and his mother when he was a child, and his mother worked long hours at her job to pay for the necessities. "This way", he said to Keiira as he led her to his room. They walked into his room. It was about 10 feet by 12 feet, and bare except for a bed,desk, and a dresser, his closet held some clothes on hangars and another dresser. Hideki rummaged around within the closet, until he seemed to find what he was looking for. "These should fit better than what you are wearing now, and they are much cleaner than those as well." He handed Keiira a screen-print T-shirt of some american band, and a pair of denim shorts. Keiira took the clothes, her head nodding towards him. Suddenely she slipped her arms out of the long sleeved pajama shirt she was wearing, and pulled it over her head. "Wai...WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" Hideki yelled as her turned around, catching a glimpse of her pale white skins, and her budding chest. " I am changing, there is nothing to be embarrassed about, we share the same soul." "There is plenty to be embarrassed about, you are a GIRL. You shouldn't be changing in front of me!!!" Hideki continued yelling at her, with his back turned.During his rampage, he felt something grip him from behind. He stopped yelling as a deathly cold chill went down his spine, he turned his upper torso and saw that Keiira had grabbed him. She felt frigidly cold, like ice. 'Kei...ira" he managed to say, his anger melting at the pathetic little form, wearing hand me down clothes and seemingly freezing to death. It was too much for him to take, he had never fought for anything, never loved anyone, this feeling drawing him towards Keiira was familiar, yet frighting. To him, Keiira really felt like she was, or used to be, a part of him. Whether it was in mind or soul, he didn't know, but, for an instant, he felt it. Like a beacon in the night's sky, he saw recognition in her eyes, and, he was the one to speak. " I ...I'm sorry" he said, tears running down his cheeks, he didn't know how, or why. But Keiira was something to him, and he was the only cause of her suffering, a suffering that would never end. "It's okay Hideki" Keiira said calmly, not trying to struggle away from his grip, or his tears that were falling and hitting her pale face. " You feel the same pain I feel, but you feel it in your heart, as I feel it with my body. We were once one, we are still one, this pain is our bond, please do not apologize, this pain proves that we are alive." With those words she pushed him away. Keiira walked towards the door to his room, turned and said "Well, I thought you were going to take me.. to buy things?" Hideki looked up, as he did he saw something he thought was beautiful, yet so extremely tragic at the same time. The young girl's smile was radiant, her pale face beaming with radiance, yet he felt the aura of death surrounding her, and he felt the pain she was in. He could only smile back at her, mustering everything he had, he choked back more tears and said "Yes, I shouldn't break promises I make with my self, let's get going." As he said these words the girls' face looked angelic to him, her smile cutting through the pain in his heart, even though he felt in his heart, that these days would not last forever, he wanted to enjoy them to their fullest, not only for himself, but for Keiira.

... I'm losing my touch, i cant keep writing it. I guess this is the end of the Short Story Enveloping Shadows, I might write a sequel for it in the near future, so be on the lookout. I really want to thank Tori, Oaken and Roy. you all helped me find the joy of writing again.I love all of you (but i love Tori the most XP)
